Dial 911! Cry out, “Mayday!” Call for help! You know those expressions well. Typically, they are associated with an emergency, one that is beyond your ability to manage and deal with safely or satisfactorily. But if you are America, who are you going to call?
The awakening of America
This week we saw Americans turn out to vote in record numbers in various states to soundly rebuke the progressive and socialist shift in our culture, our society, and our safety as traditional American values reappeared on the national scene. From Virginia to New Jersey, from Buffalo to Minneapolis, progressive agendas were renounced by Americans of diverse colors, creeds, faiths, education, occupations, and communities. Parents resoundingly declared they do have the right to oversee the education of their children and cities placed the safety of their streets and neighborhoods back on their list of priorities. What America experienced Election Night 2021 was a not so subtle reawakening of what is truly important to the majority of Americans.

The hypocrisy of Progressives
What is disingenuous, if not disreputable, are the comments from mainstream media and public personalities who choose to label those voting as “racists,” “Nazis,” or “White Supremacists.” Why is it that when progressive democrats don’t get their way they are unable to examine their message or their candidate or the needs of the nation? Once again, last night, the personal attacks on conservative candidates and accusations of the duplicity and ignorance of the voting public was on full display by those on the left side of the political spectrum.
By now, those who make sound bites for the 24 hour news cycle are dissecting Tuesday’s election and discerning what it means for the 2024 mid-term elections. Reflecting on last night’s results, it is easy to identify education, public safety, or taxes as key to the results. However, if you take a broader view of the election and raise your attention to the national stage, you will see the President needs help. We’re merely ten months into his four year term and he needs help, serious help. Even his most ardent supporters acknowledge Mr. Biden’s missteps. He claims that “the buck stops with him,” but his go-to line is to blame Donald Trump for everything.
Biden's Trail of Tears
Recently, the media pundits started questioning the competence of the Biden Administration. The President’s performance on domestic and foreign issues is now viewed as weak or ineffectual. Questions surface now and again on his mental acuity and health. Polls indicate American’s believe the President is taking the nation in the wrong direction. But polls can be deceptive. So, let’s look at the executive branch of our government, the President’s Cabinet. What stands out from the first ten months of Mr. Biden’s administration? Let’s look at results of a few of his cabinet secretaries.
Department of State: Fails to play from a position of strength. To wit: placate Iran to return to the failed nuclear deal, placate Palestinians with new consulate, and placate the Chinese Communist Party by overlooking Uyghur internment camps, suppression of religion, intellectual property theft, and origins of the Wuhan Virus (Covid-19).
Department of Justice: Agreeing with the National State Boards of Education to use the FBI and federal law enforcement agencies in support of local school boards in fear of parents, who they describe as “domestic terrorists.”
Transportation: Mr. Buttigieg takes parental leave for two months while supply chain issues on America’s west coast creating economic gridlock. Nero fiddled while Rome burned too, Mr. Buttigieg.
Homeland Security: Eviscerated our immigration laws and their enforcement. Wake up, Mr. Mayorkas! Our borders are not closed and they are not secure.
Defense: Afghanistan. Nothing more needs to be said.
Energy: Shut down vital pipelines and currently reviewing the leasing of federal lands for oil and gas development. Moved from energy independence to solicitous entreaties to Russia and OPEC+ to increase production.
Treasury: Inflation progressed from transitory to persistent. Highest rate of inflation in decades.
HHS/NIH/CDC: Covid-19, Delta Variant guidance. Are you confused yet?
DNI/CIA/NSA: Surprise! The Chinese Communist Party’s has a nuclear-capable, hypersonic weapon system.
America looks to you, Mr. President.
I am certain you can identify other examples of the Biden Administrations missteps, disappointments, errors, and abject failures. Were they foreseeable or self-inflicted? Each week there seems to be one more national embarrassment. Whether it is the submarine deal with Australia, walking back America’s commitment to Taiwan, falling asleep at COP26, or encouraging “competition” with the Chinese Communist Party, the Biden Administration seems to be in denial or unaware of the events unfolding around them.
We look to the president for stability, confidence, and ability. Unfortunately, Mr. Biden falls short in those critical facets of national leadership. In the current situation where the President relies on a faux Oval Office to better position his teleprompters and cheat sheets to call on vetted reporters with their softball questions, I wonder who is truly in charge. Mr. Biden is famous for his gaffes, but he’s the President of the United States. His misstatements, mistakes, and blunders confuse our allies and embolden our enemies.
America's fervent hope and a suggested course of action
Mr. Biden, America wants to see you succeed. The results of the recent elections underscore a desire to right the ship of state. Stand for the values of America; inclusion, opportunity, and the rule of law. Hold your cabinet secretaries accountable for their performance or lack thereof. If their performance fails to meet expectations, there are others eminently qualified for the tasks at hand.
Task Klain, your chief of staff, to stand-up an operations center in the White House and use it as a fusion center to bring together the requisite actions required to address America’s problems. Send Mayorkas to the southern border and keep him there until the nation’s immigration laws are enforced and our border secure. Send Buttigieg out to the California ports and keep him there until the 100+ ships waiting off shore are unloaded and their cargoes are enroute to their final destination. If we can deploy our soldiers, sailors, airmen, and marines for months, if not years at a time, during periods of national security then our cabinet secretaries can do no less. Let them learn the importance of sharing the deprivation, the inconvenience, and the challenges of doing the work that needs to be done.
Take a moment to explain to the American people that you have a plan to address the border crisis, the port debacle, the stranded Americans and our allies in Afghanistan, our energy shortfall, the confusion surrounding Covid-19, and, most important, our national defense. With China’s potent military, its expanding presence in space, and its ability to leverage its people around the world to further Communist Chinese goals; America must have a plan to be stronger, more advance, and well integrated with committed allies to counter the Chinese threats.
Mr. Biden, it serves an organization well to have “Plan B” established before it is needed. After ten months in office, surrounded by continued and freshly minted problems and those seemingly at a loss for solutions, it may be time to implement Plan B. You have one, don’t you? America hopes so.
